Not sure if it was really a factor, but for me a big part of her appeal is how interesting her power is in its ability to horribly backfire on her, which not only not only gives some indication of how powerful an ability it is but also why she doesn't use it, which is a nice departure from the typical "she has the power to do just about anything but doesn't use it because fuck you" fare.
