I remember when I was a Flanfag years ago, cause U.N.Owen was a big thing and she was pushed everywhere. But I can't really remember when I started to like the Remimimi more. It feels like a natural process somehow. Like ones lolicon vampire tastes maturing or so. To be honest, Flan feels old and busted, it seems to be either 'lol so crazy' or 'muh 500 years in da basement'. It seems to be always the same and we don't even know that much about her in canon anyway.
On the other hand Remilia seems much more complete as a character. I can usually see something positive in all fandom depictions and there are quite a lot of them. She just has a natural charme for me. There is the wisdom of a 500 year old being, the pride, modesty and hospitality of the master of a mansion, her badassness as a powerful vampire and the whimsical and selfish requests of a bored brat. It's all a lovely package of cuteness and badassness.
