I'd say that's the most likely possibility. It seems she was not exactly happy before becoming a witch, and the sole joy she still has in Umineko is exposing lies and shaming the people who have them.

Before Bernkastel came along, she probably committed suicide by jumping from the ship near Rokkenjima, but Bernkastel gave her the option of being a witch of truth, which made her choose to continue living. With her role as witch of truth being the only remaining reason for her existence, she desperately attempts to please her master to remain a witch of truth.

I just finished EP6, and can't understand why it's considered the worst episode.

Sure there were some dead boring parts, but it's the same with every episode.
