Everyone takes his word too literally. The original novel has some cute yuri scenes between Rika and Satoko, but he clearly doesn't want us to see them as just another throwaway pair of lesbians.

My feelings as a pretty hardcore higu fan was just disappointment. It didn't have to be as good as the worst parts of the VN, just carry a similar message and tell a simple story. Instead it feels like it tried too hard to be different and lost its nerve. A lot of characters felt out of character on top of that. Saikoroshi is the only higu sequel we need.
