Someone might have links but what turned many Japanese fans against Umineko were episodes 7 and 8. They didn't like the truth not being fully revealed and felt like the goats were meant to be an insult to readers who wanted an answer.

It's kind of ironic considering how R07 himself had written this a few years before. He should have known readers wouldn't react nicely to it.

That said, from the start Umineko wasn't as popular as Higurashi's peak. The whole western inspired island setting just didn't appeal to Japanese audiences in the same way.
