a tiny regional chain going through the effort of tracking and publishing this data is super cool and worth appreciating/celebrating regardless of their actual footprint. if i'm ever in Japan i'd love to buy some stuff from those guys
hell, even some actresses will retweet the BookMate's rankings. besides DMM (i.e. by far the largest online distributor with extreme market dominance and basically the default platform), no other retailer does anything close to this so they've acquired a kind of quasi-legitimacy in some ways irrespective of the physical/geographical limitations to their dataset
