I know exactly how you feel bro.
I've been to Japan few times now, and each time I feel the best being in residential or rural areas. I have been to such remote places in Japan that its residents probably seen white people for the first time in their lives, and kids were like okasan, gaikokujin. Felt pretty good

Another thing I love about these places is that people will sometimes approach you to find out more about you, what you do, where you from. One guy invited us over to his place, gave green tea, fresh vegetables from his garden, and he didn't even speak good English. I can't even describe how nice it was.
