Gonna be honest here. Japanese men are kind of wimpy, so when Japanese girls meet wimpy Western men those western men are still alpha compared to Japanese men. What ends up happening is that when a genuinely out going, positive, all around physically superior guy comes to meet Japanese women, the Japanese women just won't have much to do with them.
