you're getting fucking jewed, and steel will almost certainly rust from your hands unless you use stainless

have them waterjet out a piece with tabs out of 1/8" aluminum, waterjet out the holes for your buttons, throw it into a bend brake with properly spaced fingers, and just mount the bottom piece on standoffs/spaces going all the way through the box.

Then you just wrap the corners with something and you'll be done.

Should cost less than 300, get your own sheet aluminum of mcmaster-carr or grainger supply or something.

Or, you could just not be a fucking autist.
