Yeah, when i meant the fan-base i thought i mainly took /jp/ as an example as here you mostly see things i named above and my actual question,to be more specific,is what made Remi blow up so hard, with other characters it's usually a meme or trivia that brings a specific type of people, yet nothing really comes to mind with Remi. The Touhou getting everything is pretty true and is in fact good, you can easily filter the things you like and don't like, hence the more wondering stance instead of straight out complaining i had in my question. As for the cannon-shifting,i find it that they actually like sticking to achetypes, but like the doing ironic things for the said archetype. For example the prideful and strong characters get broken,or typical airhead doing something smart on accident. The Japs sure love their irony. For Touhou it might seem a little different because some characters have very broad cannons and personality. And i am pretty sure that is what made it so popular,it offers a a lot of artistic liberty, hence more variety, hence more interested people.

Hrm, in hindsight, you'd be right to think so, it'd be more logical that way. Then again, my headcanons don't always make sense, I suppose.
After all they've both been around for a fair amount of time, been places, seen stuff, and all that jazz.
