My eventual personal belief is that Beatrice at the end of EP6 is the reborn image Battler has created of Sayo, who is now dead. He understands Sayo's heart now so he will no longer see Beatrice as a cruel witch but as Sayo herself. He was too late to save her life, but he's able to reunite with her in the golden land even if she herself will likely forever rest at the bottom of the ocean outside of the catbox.

Thanks, and yeah I agree, it's obvious Battler likely planned for himself to get trapped with how it happens. He might've gotten worried that Beato might not figure things out in time but she did in the end, and they were reunited.
