I'm learning Japanese. My problem is that I'm shit-scared of being in a "class situation" on some course so I'm trying to learn it alone. I mean, I have friends who can help in a limited way but the idea of being in a classroom full of weeaboos/businessmen/quirky students just makes me feel sick to the fucking core. It's nervousness and hatred combined.

My question is, will I actually be able to learn this way? Ignoring the obvious point that if I'm too scared to go to a Japanese class, I'll probably be too scared to speak to a Japanese person if I ever get to Japan (or meet one here in England (far rarer here than in the US)).
