i had no prior experience sewing anything before i started about 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure you have already seen many tutorials for plushies and whatnot, the basic tools you need are embroidery needles, normal needles, toyknit fabric (you can get in through aliexpress under the doll fabric category) and an excellent pair of scissors (felt is also a nice fabric to practice with)
