Dammit. Just when I came in the thread to own your ass. Pic related is Miss Monochrome. She closely resembles Miku the most popular Vocaloid so her design is neither bad nor ugly. If what you are saying was true then she is a waifu with all the benefits of a real person's voice behind her and by your logic because real voices are just so much better then people would have gone crazy about her and she would have overthrown those soulless Vocaloids overnight right? She had 3 anime seasons, all aired on TV and even real concert appearances some of which next to her voice actress who wasn't a literal nobody either (pic also related) so there was more than enough exposure. She was more like a side project for the singer, an experiment in marketing to test exactly whether a waifu mascot could give a real singer an edge in the music industry, or whether a real voice would work better for a "virtual singer". While I wouldn't call the project a failure, it surely did attract people like me who wouldn't be interested otherwise, I wouldn't say it was some kind of sensation either. I bet you've heard of some literal who tier Vocaloids but have never heard of Miss Monochrome. Not to mention it was actually promoted on TV unlike the word of mouth success that Vocaloid had.

So where is the obvious superiority of a real voice in this case? Where is the massive success story to rival Vocaloids? Neither being waifubait, nor having a real voice did much in the end. I would say I'm a fan of Miss Monochrome. I was following the anime since the day it was announced before it even aired. I know all her songs and even downloaded her video album that I still have to this day but I don't know even one song by her seiyuu. And here is the real kicker, all of Miss Monochrome's songs were artificially made to sound robotic because guess what? Apparently some people just genuinely prefer robotic voices. So even though it was a real singer, and you could feel it, they still had to make it sound robotic to please people like me.

The mascots are just there to bring attention to the voices, so that waifufags will get curious and give it a try, sure, that has always been a part of it, but you made it sound like people were forcing themselves to listen to music they didn't like because of muh waifus. This argument is so stupid when you remember that the 3DPD idol industry exists. You're that guy who goes into K-pop threads and says the music sucks but people only care for it because they wanna sniff the singer's ass... and I...I, I guess you're right... wait.
