Unless there is a paid sponsorship (which there won't be because Jagex is cheap as fuck), OSRS is going to be expanding into international markets this year after it gets a Steam release, which could include Japan. However the knowledge base you need for the game is wayyy to complicated for a variety streamer to get into. If you didn't play it back in the day it's hard to appreciate the aesthetic, too. Which kinda sucks for their potential success in Japan because I feel like the grindiness and rare drop mechanics would really appeal to Japanese autism. Also, fun fact, Jagex is owned by the Chinese.
