Interesting. I'm a spider fan and it's the opposite for me, I prefer shiny carapace to the fuzzy kinds. I just think it's prettier.

To be fair you can get an infection from being bitten by just about anything. A cat or dog is just as if not more likely to make you sick if they bite you, and many smaller spiders can't even penetrate human skin with their little fangs. They're cute and I won't hear otherwise.

That comes down to the artist, same as any other species. There are cute spiders and scary foxes. I figure a lot of it comes down to foxes being people with tails, therefore easy to draw with standard anatomy knowledge, while with spiders you basically have to draw a big, complicated bug with a lady on top.
