For better or worse, it looks like we are about to see a significant change with the Western VN industry industry in the near future, with significantly more titles being released in the West (likely with many as all ages releases). Konosora is going to be released on Steam now, based on the product page for PlayAsia, and Steins;Gate is all but confirmed to be picked up at Jast's panel at AX this Summer. Steins;Gate also will likely end up on Steam, as Jast previously confirmed that they gave a demo to Steam and Steam was interested, and with Konosora on Steam as well now, there seems to be little reason to believe that Steins;Gate would be refused.

With two well received titles, one having a very high profile, going onto Steam, both of which should make a sizable profit, far in excess of what MG/Jast have seen historically, it will be the first time the Japanese companies actually see real money in the Western market. Additionally, it is well known that the domestic Japanese market is not nearly as strong as it once was, which gives good reason for companies to look overseas for a new revenue stream. Even without any big successes, plenty of companies have been involved in some way with Western distribution. If it is actually shown that money can be made though, then it suddenly becomes far more attractive.

Why my Steins;Gate crash at Chapter 4? Script 0422, I guess.

What are the odds of anyone working on a Steins;Gate translation? I've played it in Japanese but I'd much rather play a version where I can get a complete grasp of the situation. I'm not very good at reading/understanding Japanese.
