>be young paladin apprentice of the Order
>captain announces there's been cases of heretics conspiring with monsters in a nearby village
>spent entire life living in the city, never seen a monster before outside illustrations in combat reports
>tag along with the other paladins to purge them as my first mission
>stop at some farm
>farm owner nervously steps forward at the command of my captain
>catch glimpse of what looks like a woman with lots of fur and droopy dog ears by the door, and 3 smaller versions of her hiding behind her
>captain accuses the farmer of heresy against the Chief God and orders me and another junior paladin to arrest him, and orders the other paladins to burn the cottage down
>farmer falls to his knees and begs my captain to spare his family
>senior paladins have none of it and begin throwing torches into the house
>farmer tries to run back to the cottage but is restrained
>watch cottage burn down and hear screaming of children from inside
>farmer falls silent and was unresponsive as we load him into a cage
>escort him back to the city to await trial
>captain debriefs us and we head back to our rooms
>pass out almost immediately
>the next day
>hear from servants that someone was publicly executed for conspiring with monsters
>go for routine patrol in the city
>see farmer's body hanging at the town square
>gulp and continue my patrol
