Picture related.

I can understand being interested in and appreciating something foreign, but it seems Japanophilia has spread across the world. People in many countries have embraced the way of the weeaboo. Is it because of the Japanese influence in the video game market? I'd also talk of the export of Japanese cartoons, but other countries produce their own cartoons. Why isn't anyone interested in dubbing or adding English subtitles to Russian cartoons? (inb4 ANIME IS SUPERIOR)

Perhaps it has something to do with the export of Japanese media, as I've read about a similar thing happening with South Korean media. I hear Korean films, shows, etc. are quite popular in the region, and some countries feel "culturally threatened" by it. But srsly, that can't be the only reason why weeaboos are all over the place.

It seems there is a very large and dedicated base of foreign followers for everything Japanese: Japanese culture, Japanese language, Japanese television shows, Japanese cartoons, Japanese pornography (real, 2D- and 3D-animated), Japanese games (from mainstream to the obscure, from the dating sim to full-blown sex simulator), Japanese history, Japanese girls (that I can understand...), Japanese food, Japanese drinks and snacks, Japanese toys, Japanese politics... okay, maybe not politics.

And interestingly enough, while there is a huge foreign interest in Japan, many Japanese are xenophobic. I'm not sure how the average Japanese thinks about weeaboos, though.

So, why Japan? Why has Japanophilia gone global?

And yes, I realize where I'm posting this. lol
