Reimu makes up for it with combat experience

This is what Reimu is really like. An Oppressor of Youkai, Gensokyo's sole and only dictator...

Sanae is just ZUN's favourite right now, give it a couple games and she'll fade back into a semi-regular character while Reimu and Marisa enjoy places in every game.

Seems like the fan community has decided Sanae is considerably bustier then Reimu, how much you prefer that sort of thing is down to the individual.

Personally I prefer Reimu because she has more personality, even if it's often shown as a negative one. Hell, Reimu is being a complete bitch in UFO so far. Sanae seems like she's learning to be a bitch because her gods told her to.

Isn't it sad, Gensokyo? ;_;

Simple enough really. They are both shrine maidens. That's it. There's no other reason, canonically they don't interact much more then Reimu beating on Sanae a second time in order to get answers. They don't seem to practically like or hate one another.

Basically, it's the same reason you might see Orin/Chen, they are both catgirls.

Moriya shrine group has a pretty good standing now, even if Mountain of Faith wasn't as good as many of the others.

I like the new characters it introduced and the extra depth it added to the youkai society. As a game it was fun, but not really as good as some of the previous games. Music grew on me.

The shrine group is probably the most successful part of it all. I can't Satori and her pets getting nearly as much attention, though some of the individual characters were pretty awesome for different reasons.

So the Moriya shrine group has it's place now, but personally I'm more of a Yakumo family fan with the rest offering some serious competition.

Senae is modern day nice Reimu, she's cute but she's not the top bitch.

I highly doubt SWR was moved from TH9.8 to TH10.5 for no reason.

I for one welcome our epic miko battles 4 days from now.
