well about half a year ago I was in the same situation as you:

while browsing on /a/ someone posted the youtube link to METHOD_REPLEKIA/.
and I kinda got interested in the franchise.

today, half a year later,
I have bought all origna playstation games,
AT3 as limited edition in fact,
bought the art book,
and
cleared every single route for the girls,
cleared all the extra content in all games
(100 IPDs, all talk topics etc)
and listen to my favourite hymmns on a dailys basis.

so I guess I kinda like the game.

if you are as fascinated by the music, like myself,
then you should definitely play the games.
the whole concept of music/songs and the story surrounding them is really something which makes the games so special in my opinion.
and you should also read all the lyrics and translations for the hymmns.

I really love the links between the songs itself, their context in the game and the meaning of the sometimes really "different" lyrics.

the best example for this is EXEC_with.METHOD_METAFALICA/.

if you listen to EXEC_METAFALICA/. and METHOD_METAFALICA/. and read the translated lyrics, (And know the context in the ar tonelico 2 game)

and then hear/read/know the combination:
EXEC_with.METHOD_METAFALICA/.
= nerdgasm.

I loved that particular scene in AT2!
my favourite game of the series just for this song/scene/story

another interesting example for the "story within story" aspect of ar tonelico is EXEC_FLIP_FUSIONSPHERE/.

the story which is told in the lyrics is really noteworthy and doesn't fit the context of the song in the game at all.

hmm let's stop the discussion about music here.

the game itself is your typical jrpg with sci-fi, post apocalyptic, fantasy elements, the story is rather good, especially AT2 imo,
All 3 games are linked together and create the great finale with the end of AT3.

oh and the best girls are Misha, Cloche and Tyria!

does the DLC contain something of MUSTHAVE value?

will the DLC be available to europe, too?

and if the DLC is released in europe,
would it be compatible to an us version of the game?

I live in Europe but ordered the US special edition because it contains more merchandise and is released sooner!

I spent about 25-30 hours playing it. Don't forget you can speed up things a little by pressing the tab key, this is useful for running around the long tower sections and such. And I hope you do continue onto phase 3 otherwise you're a raging faggot. Image related.
