Alright, so I finished Episode 3 recently (in before Slowbro, etc) and I'm starting to get an idea of what is going on.

Now it's fairly clear that Eva killed everyone from the second twilight on. Except Nanjo, and maybe George. Hideyoshi knew about the gold, and he knew Eva killed Rosa and Maria. Battler's (and Kyrie's) line of reasoning is correct. He stumbled at the finish line though, since he didn't think to confirm that "All 14 other victims were dead when Nanjo was killed." I'm not sure what his motivation was, but Hideyoshi regained consciousness at some point and must have had some sort of revelation regarding Nanjo that required him to die. I kind of suspect Nanjo noticed George leaving the house in a daze and followed him to the mansion where he killed him. Hideyoshi might have heard this from where he was lying and took revenge on Nanjo when he had the chance. Nanjo is the most likely the writer of the messages on the doors, though I don't quite grasp the meaning behind the numbers. He's also the 'culprit' behind the first twilight, if my guess is right. He most likely assisted the killer as they made their rounds and provided them with some sort of drug to allow them to fake their death (puts them in a comatose state or somesuch. The family trusts his word implicitly so it's possible.) However, as he instructed the killer (through the door- Beato didn't deny sound could pass through) on how to arrange the room and take the drug, either they accidentaly overdosed and thus really died, or else he tricked them to the same effect.
