Given the state he was in, it felt plausible that he just literally stood there staring at it, completely out of his mind. It was at least ambiguous though, but I can agree voices and the OST improve it - just not enough to make up for what it lost.

Some examples on how the remake handled text in pic rel, remake is way more subdued with it, at least in Arc. Last 2 screens are Ciel route im pretty sure

Gotta wait for the TL with this one, but yeah it might be that alot of it has been simply moved into the schizo parts and removed from normal to contrast better - Re rape scene had a real nice moment with red text for example.

There's way less of them, most got replaced by actual sfx.
