It's just.. it's just that it seems like the current state of /jp/ reflects how vocal and mean people can be. Whatever happened to live and let live, if you don't have anything to say don't say anything at all, stuff like that, you know? Why is it so hard to ignore things you don't like? Why do people have to try so hard to be jaded and e-cool?

I just.. I don't know. It gets to me sometimes. And it's not just that simple thing, that "everyone is being so mean ;_:" thing. I mean, like, in real life, one of the main things that prevents people from being dicks to eachother is the threat of getting your ass kicked, right? Even if you have no common courtesy, you don't disrupt a bunch of people playing basketball because they could beat you down. But is the threat of violence really the only thing that keeps people from doing that to each other? Isn't it enough to know that, even if we don't understand it, even if we *can't* understand it, other people are having fun and enjoying themselves, and we should always encourage that as long as it's no skin off our nose? And online most of all, where filters, blocking, and so many other tools are at our finger tips to shield ourselves from things that annoy us that much, is it so much trouble to take our negativity elsewhere instead of disrupting other people?
