But the tree is immobile. It cannot move otherwise it will die, whereas the rock can make use of the environment around it to maneuver. It can travel all around the world and experience much more than the idle tree. The rock has infinite potential, while the tree must remain dormant, claiming superiority in its idleness whilst the rock in its mobility.
Despite this, the tree is alive, and the rock is not. Though the tree's claim to superiority is a defense mechanism against the environment which refuses to accept the tree's dormant nature, it is not unfounded. The rock only moves at the whim of its environment; it has no autonomy and thus its claim to superiority, which is its freedom and mobility, is unfounded. The tree has accepted its idle nature and therefore maintained its autonomy, whilst the rock's nature is to be a slave to the environment. So, which is superior?

And which are you?
