DESU, both of them hanged out with Reimu after their original defeat. Mima even lived alongside Reimu for some time in the Hakurei Shrine and was even described as some sort of "evil deity" for it.
Well, at least until Mima left on her own accord to find out a way to become a real goddess (as mentioned in her Mystic Square extra ending) and never came back.
For all we know she could have reincarnated into Sanae, since they have quite a few things in common.
