While I am no longer a NEET for a few years now, I hope my intrusion will be pardoned.

One thing that very rarely seems talked about is that leaving NEETdom isn't the end. It's barely the beginning. Having and holding a job is an art form in and of itself. I'm pretty convinced now that whoever says living life normally is easy has never lived normally a day in their life. There's definitely an air of "I don't belong here" but the most important thing to remember is that no one cares. You're just another face in the crowd.

What I miss most about being NEET?
How a day is what I want it to be.
All the clothes I need : underwear, undershirts, a few sets of pajamas and slippers.
Having the ability to find inner peace in calligraphy, dancing, doll making, table manners.
Losing myself in a random book.
Spending time in the public library.
Going to student films for free.
Going to free classes about whatever.

A wage does definitely not buy you happiness, just enough copium until your next wage. When I get off work the first thing I do is sleep. Then I wake up, eat dinner, use the internet a bit then sleep again. Perhaps ironically, the happiest I've been is when I lived one year at a monastery and I had nothing but a small radio, books, a stove to cook and heat on and linden I collected off the ground to make tea with. Everyone was very supportive and patient with me.
