am i dumb for commas being the hardest thing for me? i feel like i have a genuine fundamental misunderstanding.

can you have "XはYだ, XはYです" and have it be correct? or is that not allowed? in pic rel, the と means exactly what you would expect it to mean. does the comma serve any purpose other than aesthetics?
