Should've booked sooner but I heard there are some website where you can try to get a last minute bargain. I managed to score a hostel for $65 a night and it's 4 blocks away from the Hammerstein Ballroom / Manhattan Center. Take a look at Airbnb too. Good luck!

I’ve listed Penn Station and Port Authority as places to meet up HOWEVER I strongly advice against them because depending on the situation security may be heavy so a bunch of people gathering around there will look bad or obstruct the security personnel’s duties. Also you can pee in all these places should you need to, just hold your breath in Penn Station, Port Authority and the Manhattan Mall.
