Thanks for the advice, I'm sort of doing that already since I only bring 1 or 2 CVs (Akagi/Kaga) these recent runs so there's not much imbalance with plane variety.
Usually it's 2 green 紫電改二 and type-52, 3 blue 流星, 2 red 彗星一二型甲, 1 yellow Saiun setup when trying to challenge the area up to the boss.
