Finished 響 HIBIKI 2018.

The movie was okay. You can tell it is a manga adaptation, because it clearly is just the beginning of the story. I was somewhat surprised to see that the manga's reception on Amazon Japan is extremely harsh. There's so many 1 star reviews writing giant wall of texts bashing the work it's comical in a way. I can kind of understand it though.
Moreso than the script itself I want to highlight the acting here however - specifically the acting of Yurina Hirate as Hibiki. It was simply amazing and I loved every second she was on screen.
Akui Hibiki's violent outbursts despite her cute looks and introverted personality create a large gapmoe for when she does actually act cute or smile the few times in the movie - and Yurina pulls it off absolutely naturally. I especially loved the forceful handshake scenes (握手して！). Only after the movie did I find out that she is an idol and I ended up watching a highlight video of her on Youtube and am now considering getting into idols. That's how powerful she is. It's insane to think that she's only born in 2001, yet puts most actresses who have been in the scene for years to shame. She has a bright future ahead of her.

5/10 (10/10 for the lead acting however and worth a watch for that alone)
