I worked in a Japanese run ramen restaurant that had lots of Japanese kids 18~22 on working holiday visas who came here after high school. They obviously didn't have any specialized work experience, and arrived with slightly better than Japanese high school English, (not great) but are having a good time. The thing is I feel like if I tried doing what they are doing on a working holiday visa I would not be able to find low level employment as easily as them, and would not be capable of making a go of it. It probably doesnt help that I already visited Tokyo and Osaka to go to music concerts and see how my Japanese held up (equally not good but got a suprising ammount of milage out of never actually studying and just talking to my nip co-workers and watching anime), and decided that I want to and live in a more out of the way place like Sapporo or Niigata or something. Do Japanese kids have it easier coming to Canada/US than I would going out there?
