I dont' know why do some posters like to twist arguments so much.
AI has mainstream appeal, people who buy her stuff do it because it's fashionable and those who watch her videos do it because they're popular. In Japan it's normal to like cute things and she's best of cute, as for the videos this also means the ones that don't quickly grow in popularity will probably get ignored.

That said, until she stops getting deals to sell merch I wouldn't worry about them not selling.
