It has plenty of caveats, but for power users who are willing to put in the effort to curate their own collection, it's the least terrible option out there.

Two of the most interesting features, IMHO, are the automated. filtered scrapers for most relevant sites, and the option for users to contribute and obtain tags from other users. It also works for media outside of images, so it can be applied to virtually all of your media.

I don't use it myself anymore, since I can't be arsed, but I know people who are able to utilize it quite effectively.
