Yeah the noise generally isn't a problem unless your family is really nosy. Like the zipper on the hada is probably the loudest thing other than your footsteps. Even the whole breathing thing doesn't really cause a lot despite how loud it can sound inside the mask.

I've become a lot more comfortable with them knowing since they found out desu. Only my mother knows the full story and her reaction was mostly relief that I wasn't going to be stealing her underwear or some such (turns out I should of introduced the cosplay part first before the crossdressing). She was probably just being kind to me but she said my mask was pretty and would probably be interested in dressing up in cosplay herself if she grew up in the modern age.

Still for quite a while I was terrified the others would find out even after that but after constantly having them stumble onto different things and my excuses got weaker and weaker I've gotten to the point now where I honestly don't really care. I've sort of realised that at the end of the day, however mindbendingly weird I think kig must be to others, they've got their own lives they focus on a lot more. It's like if you found out your parents were super into rocky horror show or intepretative dance. It might change your image of them slightly but ultimately the place they have in your life doesn't really change regardless of their interests. Might be something you're weirded out by or find funny/silly but you're unlikely to change your relationship because of it.

Naturally it depends massively on circumstances but if your family have no hangups with weird geeky stuff and aren't the overly protective/controlling type then the worst they're likely to do is be concerned about the money side of it. Or worried it's a fetish thing which they might not want going on in their home. Either way can hopefully be solved with a conversation.

Glad you found some value in my stupid walls of text though lol, hope things go well for you.
