Why do people still believe in Free Will?

The girl and I must have been in that room weeks, even though there was no way of telling. Ever since I woke up there, my body's clock had been disconnected. Food, sleep; my body asked for neither. Was a man with no weaknesses really a man? I thought a lot in that time, about my childhood, my days at school, the trouble I got into outside of it; of stories, religion, philosophy, and politics. And about the war, and my friends that I had left there. The middle east was no kind place. Going in, I never liked any of them. But hard times make fast friends, or so they say. Their names, I'd forgotten; my friends and family, too. And I, myself, had neither a name or a face, I thought, as my fingers gently stroked the front of my head. What did they do to me in Afghanistan? What happened?
