Well, I'd say his tendency to sacrifice himself for others (in often suicidal ways) is the most insane part of it, but yes, his desire to not see anyone suffer is pretty crazy.
He doesn't wanna be a shining superhero who shows up to save the day, he wants to literally save everyone, with no sacrifices.
