Ah, yes, thanks. That explains a lot.

And not really. He had to practice and work hard for nearly sixty years to become one, and to be honest he still isn't very good at it.

That's a lot of brushing. But not an unthinkable lot.
After all, while Ran's tails are quite big, she's usually not depicted with an absolute deluge of fluffy tails like Omachi and the occasional other fox spirits of /jp/.

A long running tradition in the case of foxes.

Ah yes. The letter was delivered to a shrine. More wondering how the letter was passed on to Inari directly - perhaps through prayer or some kind of ritual.

And yes, the Sesshoseki was supposedly cleansed and made perfectly safe to touch after Tamamo no Mae was persuaded into ceasing her haunting. However today Tamamo no Mae is regarded as a great youkai and a representative of her kind, as Shuten Douji for oni and Sojobo for tengu, making it unclear whether she is considered dead or not.
It's not really clear whether the big three are considered "historical" mythical beings or as being presently alive.

Fuck yeah, Kuugen.

/tg/ may know. Remember an oddly similar discussion on the composition of daemon princes from back in 2006.
