In Japan you can only own Bolt action and Pump action rifles or shotguns. And the Japanese Police WILL conduct random inspections to make sure your are storing them properly at least once a year. Guns must be kept in a locked safe and ammunition must be stored in a separate locked safe in another room.

If you're thinking of suggesting similar gun control measures for your country consider this: Japan is an Island nation very hard to access illegally. Japanese culture treats criminals like shit. And guns have been strictly controlled in Japan since a few years after firearms were introduced to the country.
