Maybe it shouldn't be popular as then we'll lose the freedom that allows the girls to shine in the first place. Popularity led to more shit like janitors and bugmen sperging out, more harassment campaigns like what happened to mel, towa and aloe. More weebs might make the likelihood some western asshole would try to start a witch-hunt over something the girls would say and do, we already have doxxfags working on mori and ame.
Cover is too incompetent to protect these girls and can only kneel when things go bad. But that same incompetence allowed them to act entertaining in a way we haven't seen since the early days of youtube. We're losing that the more exposure hololive gets, and that's sort of by design paradoxical-Cover and the girls REALLY want to be more famous obviously.


Also as an aside, Anitubers themselves are a phenomenon of modern youtube: clean sanitized "memery" - giving the impression of western anime culture without the actual depravity or obsession. These channels give the impression of being degenerates but reality they're cleaner than mr rodgers to avoid suspicion and demonetization.
