people are social creatures who care about things like status. status can increase by acquiring some skills like learning another language or playing an instrument. i know you'll do the "lol idc i do it because it's fun" or whatever cope, but you're doing it for status too. look at pic related for some other hobbies that are green flags. you might point out that there are more efficient ways of acquiring status, but obviously there has to be a balance between personal interests and what will give you more respect/attention.

strategy games aren't that fun and grant virtually 0 status, and thus my time would have been better spent with more japanese than playing strategy games.
