I suck at these games, too.
But I at least have a shred of decency and play on normal when I do.

I also get angry and don't feel like continuing, but I'm sure if I pushed it, if I really wanted, all I have to do is keep going through the games over and over. Like Mega Man, it's mostly pattern memorization (except I feel there's definitely more skill involved in Touhou games).

This type of game is the ultimate "get the fuck back up and do it again, you horrible retard" experience, IMO.

But to answer your question, the appeal of Touhou is in my image.
