Self study. Start with:
>Genki 1
Complete the textbook + workbook (with all reading and listening materials). Study vocabulary daily. Use learned vocabulary and grammar to make your own sentences.
Proceed to:

>Genki 2
Same as above

Study every single day for at least a couple of hours. Maybe take two days off. Cramming is useless. Once you know the vocabulary and grammar points by HEART, you have finished Genki and can now understand elementary Japanese.

You may now proceed to:

>Quartet 1
Shit starts gettingseriousnow. Finishing this will put you at the doorsteps of N3.

I'm sleepy now to finish my speech but you get the idea. Download Anki and vocabulary decks, incluiding the vocab from Genki and Quartet. Read a lot, download Japanese language pack on your phone's Googe translate and use the google lens and translate manga and short articles and stuff. Write down new vocab not covered in the books and learn it. Engage in Japanese twitter and make sense of what they're saying as you learn. Watch light anime and play visual novels and games.

It's gonna take time, but as everything that's worth it, if you apply yourself you WILL progress. Depends entirely on you how far you take it.

Anon, having sex with one's spouse for the purpose of procreation is pure.

Since I moved to JP I have been with 3 girls, and I guess that things depend mostly on personality.
I have an "above average" amount of merch for anime (Love Live and JoJo, and manga).
Most of my friends say that its too much, but girls don't seem to mind it.
I tend to play a lot of games, specially SFV, but they seem to not mind it, as long as I don't neglect them, or rather include them (all have sat through tournaments with me).

I think its mostly personality, desu. Most get kind of worried about the idea of you spending your free time/money on hobbies, instead of them. Which would make movies somehting good to be really into, since you can watch together.

Just don't be obsessive, I guess?
