Not at all. The extra characters expand the world and the characters story they are related to very well. I can't even imagine Ciel without Noel now.

As for powercreep... Tsukihime was always chuuni and OP just not able to present it well. I can't imagine people not creaming themselves when this happens. I guess having to change your pants frequently could ruin the experience for some.

The scene where Shiki is like 'Showtime, Vampire' and his theme cuts in to the chanting is unbelievable. Literally overcame reason and the instinct to prepare for collision and the cold field just to turn his body into a killing tool that will do the job even if he dies in the process. Become cripple for the rest of your life? No problem, good trade off for those 2 seconds. That was just max metal all the way through. Shiki is legitimately more scary than vampires.
