This is weird question as for us western speakers we normally associate abstract concepts not pictures to words.
If I understand correctly you mean of what have before our eyes and associate to the word (kinda like you have kanjis to do the trick).

I could think of a few things, but as I said, that's not how westerners think about language.

Think of "By" as an "Invisible person" who is nearby watching the action/situation you are describing. Maybe the "thing" itself tha you're passing 'by'.

"Tomorrow" will see you give that report


If you want it more simple, as you said, the preposition "by" shows conceptual and/or proximity to a thing.
But it also does a causative function:
>By making that statement, he's grown more popular
Because he made that statement, he grew more popular.
The "statement" was observing him, and came to his aid to make him popular.

I know this sounds weird but that's the only thing I could think of. I''m not a native english speaker either but my native language is pretty similar to English (especially compared to what you Elevens speak)

You're wrong. Today's animu is mostly based on western animation (specifically disney) rather than their own style.
The only animu I know of which actually has bits of japanese traditional artstyle is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Curiously enough, the precursor of the jRPG is an old dungeon crawler game for PC made in the west
