I thought this was a good question. I always assumed that since the Demon Lord is a succubus, the most powerful school of magic right now is Eromancy. Since the Lilim are around and the Demon lord cycle is broken, because killing the current lord will now do jack shit, Eromancy is here to stay as the top school of magic.

So, Liches are mages who want absolute magical power. The most powerful magic around is now based on sex and pleasure. If you want absolute power in the MGE world, these are the spells to learn.

I was planning on using the explanation in a story or something someday, anyway.
