I've been trying a take on that counter attack Mirai-Key of Norn build anon mentioned a bit ago and I figured I'd give my thoughts on it(on maniax difficulty) and how I might tweak what I have so far.
>counter on phys vs counter on dodge
Dodge is the clear winner when dodging is possible. Death counter and the like only working on physical element skills means it's extremely niche, only really working better vs enemies that use cut off while dodge works on pretty much everything. Cut off is pretty rare so I'm probably gonna drop death counter.
>abandonment
Does not actually prevent counterattacks entirely. Seems to maybe just lower the chance of them or maybe it's glitched? Probably worth dropping unless I start having accuracy issues.
>regen
It's nice for spot healing but I'm not entirely sold on a mere 10% heal. She will have lots of HP but the value feels like it would be less and less towards the later parts of the game.
>dodge
Seems to make a pretty large difference in evasion and apparently stacks with itself. Will probably slot in a couple more of these.
>life surge, enduring soul
It's a great safety net, not much to say.
>double trace
+1 to the max hit of your normal attacks, doesn't raise the minimum number of hits or affect guns and counters at all but that's a free 50% more normal attack for a 2-2 weapon like key when it procs. More hits means more crits too, very nice.
>advice
Mandatory if you aren't running guaranteed crit shit like bright/dark might. It's doubled crit chance if they don't have coaching or third eye. A slight investment of luck you are looking at around 40~ crit rate against most things and with her hit counts you can reasonably expect a coop attack most turns. Can grab this from accessories too, freeing up a skill slot.

Never really been a huge fan but they are objectively optimal if you don't mind dealing with moon phases.

I'm not sure how much this boosts coop damage but it's probably worth considering. Might test it later.

You can just buff her with someone else but might be a fun solo meme.

Not worth the slots when they are already pretty tight.

Anyway my initial thoughts are it's probably worse than high level bullet spam but pretty decent overall while being much, much cheaper and easier to get up running. I'm still pretty early in this loop so the 50 power of the key hasn't fallen off yet though and that might change. I had a fun fight where due to going in underleveled the rest of the party died and she had to solo a boss, which she did pretty well since the counter build let her heal herself while still doing damage.
