After subconsciously meditating on the whole trap vs trans "noo you can't use that word even about yourself, it's yikes oof bad!" argument for half a year, I think I'm finally starting to understand.
A relationship between a dude and a trap is conceptualized by both partners as a gay relationship with a twist, the female signifiers function solely as an aesthetic, a shared fantasy understood AS fantasy. Meanwhile, the trans identity makes the claim to achieving objective, metaphysical femininity or masculinity independently of mere biological facts. Now wonder that, from this perspective, the very existence of traps would be seen as offensive: it's not just a separate, valid form of sexual expression, it's an metaphysical antithesis to the very idea of a trans identity, any self-professed trap/reverse-trap could be a trans person, and vice versa. "Just stop obsessing over your gender, put on your programmer socks and scream like a girl while I fuck you in the ass, dude."
