They are not mutually exclusive. If her stats increase then obviously her momentum will increase as well. Her momentum can't keep increasing with no end in sight as stated if her stats aren't also increasing.

That's not the context used in that scene though, it was clearly stated she was connecting to the world to mend her vessel primarily.
