To me their ages will always be 15-17, with Rika and Satoko being younger. It made more sense to me, and it was deliberately kept vague for that very reason (so fans could interpret it the way they wanted). It's only with the advent of the new, awful sequel that their ages being 13-14 were set in stone, so I have no problem disregarding it.
